British actress Janet Montgomery has shared the shocking news that her husband, Joe Fox, left her just 10 days after she welcomed their second child. The New Amsterdam star, 40, and Joe celebrated the arrival of their son Milo in December last year, six years after their daughter Sunday Juno was born.
Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, Janet revealed:
“Last year, my life changed in a way I never could have imagined. Just ten days after welcoming my beautiful son, I found myself navigating the heartbreak of becoming a single mother to two children. There were moments I wasn’t sure how I would make it through the next hour, let alone the next day.”
She continued, reflecting on the challenges of her journey:
“Grief, exhaustion, fear, uncertainty, and the overwhelming responsibility of showing up for two little people who needed me no matter what. What I didn’t expect was how held I would feel by this community. Over the past ten months, so many of you have followed along as I shared the messy, beautiful, painful, joyful reality of rebuilding a life.”
Janet expressed deep gratitude for her fans’ support:

“You celebrated Sunday’s milestones, watched Milo grow, checked in on me during the darkest days, and reminded me that even through a screen, people can show extraordinary kindness. Being vulnerable online can feel frightening, but your messages, comments, encouragement, and support have often arrived exactly when I needed them most. Thank you for holding space for our story.”
She did not disclose the reason behind the split.

Janet’s career spans from her start on Skins to roles in films such as Black Swan, Our Idiot Brother, Amateur Night, and Nighthawks, as well as TV series including Human Target, Mad in Jersey, Salem, and New Amsterdam. She also recently appeared in 1923 and Scarpetta, and will feature in the upcoming ABC spinoff of The Rookie.
Janet and Joe began dating in 2017, welcomed their first child in March 2019, and tied the knot in December 2019 in Jamaica. She previously shared the joy of their wedding on social media, noting the intimacy of the day and her daughter Sunday’s memorable participation.
Despite the personal upheaval, Janet’s heartfelt post reflects her resilience, the love for her children, and the strength she draws from her community during this challenging chapter.
