Janet and Peter, a 70-year-old former restaurateur, have been in a relationship since 1999 but have kept their romance largely private. The couple chose a quiet, intimate ceremony in Great Yarmouth last Saturday, with their beloved dog Badger also joining them in the celebratory video shared on the show. 
In the heartfelt video, Janet spoke directly to the Loose Women audience: “Hi everyone, I’ve been keeping a big secret. It’s my big news for everyone. Peter and me, and Badger, got married on Saturday, so there you are. I finally did it,” she said, before adding with a smile: “I saved the best till last.”
The revelation was met with emotional reactions from her co-stars, with Brenda Edwards particularly moved by the news. “Congratulations Janet!” she exclaimed. “That’s got me quite emotional. I love that.” 
Kaye Adams, noticing that this marks Janet’s “fifth husband,” added with a touch of humor: “Fifth time’s the charm!” to which Brenda quickly responded, “It doesn’t matter, she’s got happiness, stop counting the numbers.”
Janet looked content, radiant, and happy in the video, with her colleagues Sue Cleaver and Nadia Sawalha also expressing their congratulations and joy at the news. 
Fans were quick to flood social media with congratulatory messages, with fellow Loose Women panellist Coleen Nolan writing, “OMG I’m so so happy for you both. Huge congratulations.” Broadcaster Mariella Frostrup also joked, “Congratulations… presume it precedes Peter’s canonisation?”
Other well-wishers included model Katie Piper, who posted a heart emoji, and TV presenter Oti Mabuse, who wrote, “Yes Janet!” in approval. Dame Kelly Holmes also joined in the celebrations, writing: “Ahhh congratulations.”
The star’s previous marriages have spanned several decades, starting with photographer Tim Street-Porter in the late 1960s, followed by marriages to Time Out editor Tony Elliott, Canadian filmmaker Frank Cvitanovich, and David Sorkin, whom she married in 1997 before divorcing in 1999. Peter Spanton, her current husband, has been by her side since that time, and the couple have now made it official after more than two decades together.
Janet is currently touring the UK with her one-woman show Off The Leash, with upcoming performances in Blackfriars, Southampton, and Hampshire.
