The 44-year-old TODAY personality, who married Henry in an outdoor ceremony at her parents’ Texas ranch, opened up about the memory on Monday, June 1, during Today with Jenna & Sheinelle.

“There was really bad weather the night before and my mom woke Barbara and I up — we slept together because we’re twins,” Jenna said, referring to her twin sister, Barbara Bush Pierce.

Her co-host Sheinelle Jones was immediately charmed by the confession.

“Wait, the night before your wedding you slept with your sister?” Sheinelle asked. “Awww, that is the sweetest thing!”

But according to Jenna, their mother, former First Lady Laura Bush, made one comment that left the twins slightly horrified at the time.

“She was like, ‘We need to change the sheets!’ And Barbara was like, ‘Gross, Mom! This isn’t The Other Boleyn Girl!’” Jenna joked, referring to the 2008 film about King Henry VIII, Anne Boleyn and her sister Mary.

Jenna then explained that Laura had another reason for waking the sisters — and it involved a frightening weather scare just hours before the wedding.

“My mom was like, ‘Girls, get out of bed! A tornado came and hit the tent, but everything’s fine!’” Jenna recalled. “And we were like… she’s a very calm lady, but we were like, ‘Huh?’”

Despite the unexpected drama, Jenna’s wedding day went ahead beautifully.

She married Henry Hager in a romantic outdoor ceremony in Texas, surrounded by family. The couple now share three children: daughters Mila, 13, and Poppy, 10, and son Hal, 6.

The Read with Jenna founder often speaks openly about her family life and recently amused viewers by discussing the physical similarities between herself and Henry.

“I think Henry and I sort of have big heads. I think we have big faces, which, therefore, we could be brother-sister, which they also say,” Jenna said on her show.

She then showed a holiday photo with Henry from 2024 and pointed out the resemblance.

“See, big heads! See, brother and sister! Do you see it? We could be brother and sister if you zoomed into our big faces. And all my kids look identical because all our heads are large.”

From a twin-sister sleepover to a tornado-damaged wedding tent, Jenna’s big day came with more behind-the-scenes surprises than fans ever knew — but it still became the start of a marriage and family life she continues to celebrate today.
