Jesy Nelson has shared an emotional and heartbreaking update about her 10-month-old twins, Ocean and Story, following their devastating diagnosis of Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA).
Having welcomed the twins after an extremely challenging pregnancy just 10 months ago, Jesyâs joy was soon clouded by the news that her little girls were diagnosed with SMA, a rare genetic condition that causes muscle weakness and continues to worsen over time. Since this diagnosis, Jesy has been a passionate advocate for better testing and research, determined to raise awareness about the condition. 
However, in a recent update, Jesy once again left her fans feeling heartbroken as she shared a difficult moment with her twins.
A Motherâs Struggle: SMA and the Heartbreak
Earlier this year, Jesy bravely opened up about the diagnosis, revealing the immense pain she felt for her children. The news of the condition, which means that Ocean and Story will experience progressive muscle weakness, was followed by another personal heartbreak: her split from ex-fiancĂ© Zion Foster, the girlsâ father.
Despite these struggles, Jesy has continually updated her followers with touching moments and photos of the twins. While she often shares the joy of being a mother, she does not shy away from revealing the hard truths about her childrenâs health journey.
Jesy admitted that she isnât sure if Ocean and Story will ever regain the strength in their necks. Doctors have also warned that the twins may never walk.
A âSadâ Update: Leg Splints for the Twins
In a heart-wrenching post shared on Instagram Stories late Thursday night (March 19), Jesy revealed that she had picked up leg splints for the twins. âI had to go pick up the girlsâ splints today because their feet are pointing a certain way, and they need to be flattened out,â she explained, her voice filled with emotion.
She then showed the splints to the camera, attempting to find a positive side in the difficult situation. âIt made me really sad,â Jesy confessed. âBut have you ever seen anything cuter in your life? Look at them. This one is Storyâs, she has hearts. Then, this one is Oceanâs. She has butterflies.â
Despite trying to focus on the small joys, Jesy admitted that it was âjust another reminderâ of the ongoing struggles the twins face due to their condition.
The Ongoing Journey
Jesyâs followers are familiar with the emotional rollercoaster sheâs been on since her twinsâ birth. Earlier that same day, Jesy had shared videos of her lying beside her babies, who still have their feeding tubes in place, a stark reminder of their medical needs.
But amidst the hardships, Jesy also posted a sweet clip of the twins in their prams, ready for a walk. She asked them to âgive us a smileâ as they adorably played, a brief but precious moment of normalcy in their challenging journey.
