Jesy Nelson’s mother, Janice White, has shared an emotional and heartbreaking insight into life at home with Jesy’s twin daughters following their diagnosis with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type 1.
The former Little Mix star welcomed her daughters, Ocean Jade and Story Monroe, prematurely last year, and the family’s journey since then has been marked by ongoing medical care and emotional challenges.
In a new documentary, Janice is seen showing a quiet room in the family home filled with specialist medical equipment, alongside toys that the girls are unable to use due to their condition.
“This is all their stuff they can’t use… it’s all their medical equipment,” she explains emotionally. “It upsets Jesy if she sees it downstairs, so we keep it up here.”
She also spoke about the difficulty of buying toys and everyday items that are often unsuitable for the girls’ needs, highlighting how much their lives have changed since the diagnosis.
The documentary continues to follow Jesy’s journey as a mother, including her efforts to raise awareness around SMA and push for earlier testing for newborns across the UK.
Despite the challenges, Jesy has continued to share moments of love and strength with her daughters, recently celebrating their first birthday with a heartfelt message and emotional reflection on motherhood.
Her twins’ father, Zion Foster, remains involved in co-parenting following their separation, as both parents continue to support their children through their complex medical journey.
