White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt is embracing a new chapter in her personal life after welcoming her second child with husband Nicholas Riccio.

The newest addition joins the couple’s first child, son Nicholas “Niko,” who was born in July 2024.

Balancing Motherhood and Public Service

Leavitt has spoken openly in previous interviews about the realities of raising a young family while serving in one of the White House’s most demanding communications roles.

She has acknowledged that balancing work responsibilities with motherhood requires constant prioritization and personal sacrifice, adding that she tries to devote as much time as possible to her children whenever she is away from the office.Karoline Leavitt with her son Nicholas "Niko" Robert Riccio in March 2025

In earlier interviews, Leavitt also reflected on the sense of responsibility many working parents experience, explaining that finding the right balance remains an ongoing journey.

A Busy Year for the Family

The past two years have brought several major milestones for Leavitt and Riccio.

After welcoming their son in 2024, the couple married in January 2025 before later announcing they were expecting a second child. The pregnancy drew additional public attention as Leavitt continued carrying out her duties while preparing for the birth of her daughter.

In late April, she told reporters that she was nearing the end of her pregnancy and expected to begin maternity leave soon. However, she continued participating in official briefings during a particularly busy period before ultimately welcoming Vivi.

Family Moments Shared With the Public

Leavitt has occasionally offered followers glimpses into her family life through social media, posting photos of her son during holidays, family celebrations and visits connected to her work.Karoline Leavitt and her daughter, Viviana "Vivi"

After announcing her daughter’s birth, she thanked supporters for their encouragement throughout the pregnancy and described feeling grateful for the kindness she received.

Beginning Maternity Leave

Following Vivi’s arrival, Leavitt has started her maternity leave. The White House has not publicly announced how long she expects to be away from her duties or whether another official will temporarily assume her role during her absence.

For now, Leavitt’s focus appears to be on spending time with her growing family as she begins life as a mother of two while preparing for her eventual return to public service.
