In a heartwarming turn of events, Kate Garraway has grown closer to her longtime friend, broadcaster Liam Halligan, two years after the heartbreaking death of her husband, Derek Draper. On Friday, the Good Morning Britain host, 59, was spotted cosying up to Liam, 56, as he prepared for his monumental 300km charity bike ride from London to Paris. The pairâs deep-rooted friendship has sparked speculation, with insiders revealing how much they enjoy each otherâs company, but also noting that itâs still “early days” for their relationship.
The two have known each other for over 20 years, with Liam also having a close connection to Derek. Over the weekend, Kate joined Liam and his friends in his hometown of Saffron Walden, Essex, where they shared moments of fun at The Railway Arms pub, where Liam performed with his band, The Hooligans.
A source close to the duo shared, “Kate doesnât know where things will go, but sheâs enjoying spending time with Liam. He makes her laugh, and itâs refreshing for her to feel happy again after such a tough period.”
