Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos celebrated a truly special occasion on the June 2 episode of Live With Kelly and Mark, honoring their eldest son Michael’s 29th birthday. The couple shared laughs, memories, and behind-the-scenes stories about Michael’s birth and a dramatic hospital experience that unfolded the same day. 
Opening the show, Mark announced, “Good morning! Today is our eldest son Michael’s birthday.” Kelly immediately chimed in, “Happy Birthday, Michael!” while Mark added, “Happy Birthday, Mikey!”
Reflecting on the moment she texted Michael that morning, Kelly laughed, “I told him, ‘Remember, you weren’t born until 7:17 p.m., so technically, it’s not your birthday yet. You haven’t made your grand entrance.’” Mark explained that every year, Kelly gives their children a playful “speech” about the exact times of their births.
As they celebrated Michael’s 29th, Mark joked, “He’s 29! You have a 29-year-old!” to which Kelly playfully responded, “So do you!” 
The couple shared glimpses of Michael’s birth story. Kelly recalled watching Entertainment Tonight, nervously asking if they could “wait until this episode’s over” before going into labor. Mark noted that Kelly endured a long labor and that they had to spend the night at the hospital. Despite the stress, Kelly’s experience was far smoother than that of another patient, who gave birth in the hallway without an epidural.
Ripa commented, “I got to the hospital just in time! I was under the haze of an epidural, feeling nothing—but everything worked out perfectly.”
Michael, now 29, has made several appearances on Live over the years. Back in February, he surprised his mother on-air during her 25th anniversary special. When asked about his favorite moments on the show, he recalled family adventures: “The swamp tour in Louisiana where I threw a snake on you, Mom. You almost jumped out of the boat! Cooking segments, holiday specials, and winning the golden wiener were unforgettable.”
Kelly was visibly delighted to have her son with her during the birthday celebration. “I’m just looking at you, and I can’t believe you’re here,” she gushed. “It’s such a wonderful surprise.”
Michael is the eldest of Kelly and Mark’s three children, which also include daughter Lola and youngest son Joaquin. The family has maintained a strong presence on the show, sharing endearing glimpses of their lives while keeping their children’s day-to-day private.
