Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos marked their eldest son Michael’s 29th birthday with a sweet trip down memory lane — and one surprising hospital memory that left viewers listening closely.

During the June 2 episode of Live with Kelly & Mark, the couple paused to celebrate Michael, their firstborn son, while looking back on the unforgettable day he entered the world.

Ripa joked that Michael’s birthday did not officially begin until the exact moment he was born.

“I said, ‘Remember, you weren’t born until 7:17 p.m., so technically it’s not your birthday yet,’” she recalled texting him that morning. “You haven’t made your grand entrance yet.”

Mark laughed as he revealed that Kelly gives the same emotional “birth time speech” to each of their children every year.

But the memories soon turned even more vivid. Kelly remembered being in the hospital, watching Entertainment Tonight, when doctors told her it was time to have the baby.

“And I was like, ‘Okay, can we wait ’til this episode’s over?’” she joked.

Mark said Kelly’s labor with Michael was long, and the couple ended up spending the night at the hospital. But while her experience was lengthy, Kelly remembered hearing another woman nearby going through something far more dramatic.

“The woman in the hallway gave birth in the hallway,” Kelly shared, explaining that the woman had arrived too late for an epidural and was already in active labor.

Mark also remembered hearing the moment unfold.

Kelly admitted the sound startled both of them awake — even though she was already under the haze of an epidural.

“I remember thinking I had gotten to the hospital too early,” she said. “But then I heard that, and I was like, ‘Just in time! I got here in the nick of time!’”

Kelly and Mark, who have been married for nearly three decades, share three children together: Michael, 29, Lola, 24, and Joaquin, 23.

And as they celebrated Michael’s milestone birthday, the couple once again reminded viewers why their family stories continue to feel so warm, funny and deeply relatable.
