Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos have always been known as a close-knit family, raising their three children — Michael, 28, Lola, 24, and Joaquin, 22 — in the spotlight yet managing to keep strong family bonds. But now, their kids have taken a bold step… and it all started with a single, embarrassing detail.
During the latest episode of Let’s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa, Lola joined her mom and revealed a family secret that left listeners laughing — and a little surprised. It turns out the family’s group chat name, “Fam Innit,” inspired by Kelly and Mark’s love for the TV show Top Boy, was just too much for the kids to handle.
“We’re so embarrassed by that name that Michael, Joaquin, and I started our own group chat called ‘Family, Isn’t It?’” Lola confessed.
Despite the playful rebellion, Lola admitted her parents remain the first people she turns to during tough times. She opened up about her difficult first year at NYU, sharing how she leaned heavily on Kelly and Mark for support. 
“I was going through a bit of a thing, and I really felt like the only people I could speak to were my parents,” she said. “Now I completely get it when they used to tell me, ‘One day you’ll wish you listened to me.’”
Lola explained that in those moments, she didn’t want anyone else’s advice but theirs. She also stressed the importance of parents learning to grow alongside their adult children, giving them space to make — and live with — their own decisions.
Kelly and Mark raised their children in New York City during the height of their fame, but despite their privileged upbringing, all three have maintained grounded attitudes and strong work ethics. 
The couple officially became empty nesters in 2021 when Joaquin left for the University of Michigan, where he graduated this past May. Michael now lives in Brooklyn, while Lola splits her time between New York City and London.
Even if they’ve created their own group chat, it’s clear the bond between Kelly, Mark, and their children remains as strong as ever — just with a little more independence (and less embarrassing group names).
