TV host Laura Woods left fans worried when she suddenly collapsed live on air during ITV’s pre-match coverage of the women’s England vs. Ghana soccer game at St. Mary’s Stadium in Southampton. The 38-year-old presenter was immediately attended to by her colleagues after the shocking incident, and later shared an update to reassure fans.

“That was a bit weird,” Woods wrote on her Instagram Story on December 2, after the match. “Sorry to worry everyone.” The TV star, who is known for her work with ITV and TNT Sports, explained that the “wonderful” paramedics at the stadium believed the collapse was likely due to a virus and advised her to rest and hydrate. “I’m really embarrassed that happened on TV, but a big thank you to my colleagues at ITV who have really looked after me tonight,” she added. Woods also thanked her coworkers, Ian Wright and Anita Asante, for their swift reactions. “Wrighty and Neets caught me,” she said. “Sorry again.” Laura Woods shows off bandaged face after horror injury in freak accident as brave sports presenter takes dog for a walk

The concerning moment occurred while Wright, 62, was speaking on camera. He stopped mid-sentence when he saw Woods collapse beside him. As the cameras cut to black, the audience witnessed Wright catching Woods, with Asante jumping into action to help. “Are you OK?” Wright asked, and Woods responded, “I’m fine.”

The broadcast then quickly moved to a commercial break while Woods received assistance. When the show returned, Woods had been replaced by Katie Shanahan, who assured viewers that her colleague was “taken ill but she’s in very good hands.” Shanahan offered another update during halftime, sharing that Woods was “doing OK” and expressing the team’s well wishes for her recovery.

Woods’ fiancé, former Love Island UK contestant Adam Collard, also updated fans, posting on social media: “Laura is all OK and with the right people. Thank you for all of your kind messages 🤍.”

As a longtime sports reporter in the UK, Woods is no stranger to high-profile events, having covered major tournaments like the 2023 Women’s World Cup and the 2024 Men’s Euro. She previously hosted talkSPORT‘s breakfast show and worked for Sky Sports.

Fans were relieved to hear that Laura, who welcomed her son Leo with Collard in January, is recovering well after the health scare. The couple got engaged in September 2024, and their baby boy has brought even more joy to their lives.
