Lorraine Kelly Faces Backlash on Return to ITV Show: ‘That’s Enough!’

Lorraine Kelly made her much-anticipated return to Lorraine on ITV after an eight-week break, but it wasn’t the warm reception she might have expected.

Back on air for the first time since ITV’s major schedule changes, which have slashed her show’s airtime to just 30 minutes a day for 30 weeks a year, Lorraine’s comeback wasn’t met with open arms by everyone. While she shared a warm reunion with first guest Alison Hammond, the viewers at home weren’t quite as thrilled.

“Good morning and a very happy bank holiday!” Lorraine greeted her audience, before welcoming Alison back to the studio. “Can we just take a moment that you’re back? We’re so happy to see you,” Alison exclaimed, but the sentiment wasn’t exactly shared by the wider public.

Viewers voiced their frustration almost immediately, with many admitting they had switched off as soon as the show began. One fan tweeted, “It was lovely not having this drivel on my screen for a while. Switch off.” Another bluntly added, “And that’s enough.”

Some felt the timing of Lorraine’s return felt off, especially with her choosing to work on a bank holiday — something she traditionally avoided. “Lorraine Kelly working on a bank holiday? Is it time and a half or something?” one viewer joked, while another couldn’t hide their disbelief: “Lorraine is on and she’s in the studio?!”

While the studio may have been full of smiles, it’s clear that not everyone was ready for the presenter’s return. As her return to the small screen continues, the question remains: is it time for Lorraine to take a longer break?
