NBC’s recent decision to cancel Law & Order: Organized Crime after five seasons has cast a shadow over several other shows, with a freshman drama and a beloved comedy now reportedly in “grave danger of cancellation.”

Law & Order: Organized Crime, which starred Christopher Meloni, was cancelled earlier this week, with the actor describing his time on the show as “a great ride.” But this cancellation could spell trouble for NBC’s other programs.

According to Deadline, the network is now weighing the future of several shows, including Brilliant Minds and Stumble. Brilliant Minds, which follows a larger-than-life neurologist and his team as they explore the complexities of the human mind, has received mixed reviews and is currently in danger of being dropped. Similarly, Stumble, a comedy about a competitive cheerleading coach trying to train a new squad of inexperienced students, is also at risk, with renewal odds reportedly low.
The fate of these shows will likely be determined in the coming weeks, with NBC set to announce its 2026-27 schedule on May 11. Meanwhile, Law & Order’s flagship show, which has had a successful relaunch in 2022, may also face some uncertainty. However, its renewed momentum after the relaunch means it has a higher chance of continuing.
NBC is currently evaluating its lineup alongside five other drama pilots, and decisions on renewals will depend on how the network views its new projects, which have been generating solid buzz. The final decisions on the renewals for Brilliant Minds, Stumble, and other shows are expected to come in early May.
Despite the challenges, Law & Order: SVU has already been confirmed for its 28th season, making it NBC’s longest-running show.
As NBC continues to evaluate its options, the network’s decision on Brilliant Minds and Stumble will surely be one to watch closely.
