Niall Horan has revealed that he’s concerned about needing a hip replacement in the near future as he battles debilitating health issues that have been affecting him for years. The former One Direction star, 32, who previously underwent reconstructive surgery on his knee back in 2014, has shared an update on his current condition, admitting that his joints are “already going,” leaving him dreading the inevitable consequences of aging.

In an honest and candid interview on The Zach Sang Show, Niall expressed how his health problems have taken a toll on his well-being. “My knees are fed. The hips are going now too,” he said, before adding, “I think I was just genetically fed from the day I was born.”

Horan went on to explain how his family history plays a significant role in his fears. His father, who is 66 years old, has already had both a knee and a hip replacement, and Niall says the genetic predisposition is undeniable. “My dad is 66 this year. He’s just had a knee replacement. He’s had a hip done 18 months ago. He’s getting another hip done now,” Niall said. “It was clearly in there. My uncle had two knees done. Like, it’s a thing. I think I was just ruined from the day I was born.”

Despite the challenging circumstances, Niall continues to press forward with his career and personal life. In the same interview, he also touched on his recent album, Dinner Party, and how his girlfriend, Amelia Woolley, served as a “muse” for several tracks on the record. “She did a lot of crying,” he jokingly admitted. Niall also reflected on the emotional impact of the death of his close friend and former bandmate, Liam Payne. Niall’s song “End of an Era,” from the album, is a tribute to Liam, who passed away in 2024. “I just remember getting a message, and I was like, ‘What?…’ I just didn’t think it was real,” Niall recalled, revealing the deep sadness and shock he felt. “Someone so young, you’re not expecting to hear that they’ve passed, especially someone that you’ve just seen.”

The heartfelt song features lyrics that express the emotional journey of loss: “We had it / Pure magic / Remember what it was like / Time passes / So fast and / I couldn’t tell you goodbye.”

On a brighter note, Niall opened up about his relationship with Amelia, describing her as “amazing” and a constant source of support in his life. “Having someone to rant with and listen to and be listened to is huge. I’m glad I found it,” he said, revealing his contentment with their simple but fulfilling life together. “We’re also big procrastinators. Friday’ll come, and I’ll be like, ‘Can’t wait for the weekend,’ and then Sunday night comes, and we’ve done nothing. We spent the whole weekend in the house.” Watch Shawn Mendes Perform 'Treat You Better' With Niall Horan on Tour

Niall also recently revealed his growing interest in high-end wristwatches. In a social media post teasing his upcoming album, he showed off his vintage Patek Philippe Calatrava, adding to the list of personal passions he’s shared with his fans.

As Niall continues to navigate his health struggles, the support from his fans and loved ones remains a constant source of strength. The journey of his career and personal life shows no signs of slowing down, despite the hurdles he faces.
