Beloved TV presenter Nick Knowles has revealed he will be stepping away from television to care for his wife, Katie Dadzie, as she prepares to undergo another major operation following a series of devastating health complications.
The DIY SOS star, 63, admitted he plans to “disappear” from the spotlight for a while, putting family before work during what he describes as an incredibly difficult period.
Nick Puts Family First
Speaking candidly about the situation, Nick explained that his priority is supporting Katie through her latest health battle.
“I’ve been looking after my wife a lot because she has been through it. She’s had a lot of tough times. She’s got another operation coming up.”
He added that once the surgery takes place, he’ll be taking time away from television.
“I will disappear for a while because I’ll be looking after her.”
The presenter also praised his wife’s resilience, saying:
“I’m always worried about her, but she’s a warrior and a fighter, so I know she’ll be fine.”

A Terrifying Medical Ordeal
Katie, 36, has endured a long and painful health journey after undergoing a hysterectomy last year following years of suffering from polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), endometriosis and adenomyosis.
Just weeks into her recovery, she experienced a rare and frightening complication when the stitches sealing her cervix ruptured, causing severe internal pain and heavy bleeding.
Sharing the ordeal on social media, Katie described it as the most terrifying experience of her life.
She recalled suffering crippling abdominal pain, difficulty breathing and extreme blood loss before being rushed to hospital, where doctors quickly carried out scans and prepared her for emergency surgery.
At one stage, medical teams feared she may have suffered a bowel perforation, with multiple surgical options—including major open surgery—being considered.
Another Operation Ahead
Although surgeons were able to stabilise the immediate emergency, Katie has since been told she requires another significant operation.
The lingerie entrepreneur admitted her recovery has been far more challenging than expected, with the hysterectomy also triggering early menopause and ongoing exhaustion.
Despite everything she has endured, Katie has remained determined to stay positive throughout her recovery.
Stepping Away From the Spotlight
Nick and Katie married in June 2025 and have frequently shared glimpses of their life together on social media.
Now, however, the veteran presenter says television will have to wait while he focuses entirely on helping his wife through the next stage of her recovery.
For one of the BBC’s busiest presenters, it’s a rare pause in an exceptionally busy career—but one Nick says is simply where he needs to be.
