Colin Cowherd makes the Chiefs think twice about Tyreek Hill: "I don't know if he's a winner" | MarcaWith Tyreek Hill set to be released by the Miami Dolphins, speculation has exploded around a potential return to Kansas City.

But just as Chiefs Kingdom begins dreaming of a rewind to the league-dominating Mahomes-to-Hill era, one of Patrick Mahomes’ loudest supporters has stepped in to shut it down — hard.

The Kansas City Chiefs enter the 2026 offseason with major questions on offense after a frustrating 2025 campaign.

Despite the arrival of speedster Xavier Worthy, Mahomes has struggled to rediscover the explosive chemistry that once terrorised the league in the late 2010s — when Hill was redefining the deep ball in red and gold.

With Hill’s exit from Miami now imminent, Chiefs fans have flooded social media with calls to “bring back the magic,” pointing to Mahomes’ early MVP years, league-leading touchdown totals, and the offense’s once-unstoppable rhythm.

But not everyone is buying the nostalgia.

The Dolphins Wanted To Let Tua Tagovailoa Go. Now They've Unleashed Him. | FiveThirtyEight🧊 Nick Wright shuts it down — brutally

ESPN personality and longtime Mahomes defender Nick Wright has emerged as one of the loudest voices against a Chiefs-Hill reunion.

And he didn’t mince words.

Wright cited Hill’s long list of off-field controversies, his growing reputation in locker rooms — and, most damningly, his relationship with Miami quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

Wright labeled Hill an

“all-time, first-ballot bad teammate.”

The comment sent shockwaves through NFL media — especially given Wright’s usual enthusiasm for anything tied to Mahomes’ success.

🚑 Injury red flags complicate the picture

Beyond the personality concerns, Hill’s health is now a major question mark.

The 31-year-old wide receiver is coming off a dislocated knee with multiple torn ligaments — an injury that threatens the very skills that made him elite.

Sports injury analyst Jeff Mueller delivered a sobering assessment of Hill’s outlook for 2026:

“I would anticipate a pretty big negative impact in his best skillsets — speed and route running.”

For a Chiefs offense desperate for immediate impact, that risk may be too great.

Five Things We Learned from GM Brett Veach on Thursday🧠 Why Kansas City may hesitate

General manager Brett Veach is expected to aggressively target help at wide receiver and running back through free agency and the draft.

But with salary-cap pressure, locker-room chemistry concerns, and Hill’s uncertain physical ceiling, a reunion may carry more downside than upside — no matter how electric the highlights once were.
