Less than a year after stepping back from the spotlight, Phillip Schofield has been spotted during a lively evening out in London — while his former This Morning co-host Holly Willoughby was enjoying a relaxed holiday abroad.
On Saturday evening, the 63-year-old ex-presenter was photographed leaving Bermondsey’s LGBTQ+ venue Arzner Bar & Cafe with London-based nurse Joshua Luke Sharman, 30. The pair appeared close as they emerged around 7pm, with Phillip helping to steady his bleary-eyed friend before sharing a street-side cuddle.
Joshua, dressed in a blue polo shirt and shorts, leaned on Phillip for support before they embraced again. His Instagram reveals a circle of celebrity friends, including Gok Wan and Sally Lindsay.
A Stark Contrast With Holly’s Getaway
While Phillip’s evening made headlines, Holly Willoughby, 43, was enjoying a sun-soaked break in Portugal — a destination where the two once holidayed together with their families, before their friendship fell apart in the wake of Phillip’s scandal.

The rift deepened after revelations about Phillip’s affair with a younger male colleague and disturbing allegations concerning his brother. Their professional and personal relationship reportedly collapsed for good soon afterwards.
From Prime-Time Host to Public Fallout
Phillip, who came out as gay on This Morning in February 2020, left the show in 2023 after admitting to what he called an “unwise but not illegal” relationship with a runner more than 40 years his junior.
In a statement to the Daily Mail, he apologised for lying to colleagues, friends, ITV bosses, and his family. He explained that he had met the man when he was a teenager but insisted their relationship only became romantic after he began working at ITV.
“I am painfully conscious that I lied… I will reflect on my very bad judgement in both participating in the relationship and then lying about it,” Phillip said at the time.
Marriage and Friendship Under Strain
Phillip has been married to Stephanie Lowe since 1993. She was reportedly “devastated” by his admission but has chosen not to file for divorce, with sources claiming she doesn’t want him to “fall any further” and that “the love is still there.”
As his marriage faced strain, his friendship with Holly disintegrated. In the Channel 5 series Cast Away, Phillip labelled her “one of the three s***s of showbiz,” accusing her of betrayal and suggesting she helped orchestrate his departure from ITV to protect her own brand.
Family Support Amid Mental Health Struggles
The scandal’s fallout was “relentless,” Phillip has said, admitting he had suicidal thoughts. His daughters, Molly and Ruby, have been his constant support — even refusing to leave him alone.
“My girls saved my life,” he shared. “They’ve been by my side every moment… If my girls hadn’t been there, I wouldn’t be here, because I don’t see my future.”
Phillip now lives a far quieter life, residing away from the cameras in the wake of a career and personal life transformed by the events of the past year.
