Three years after the scandal that shook his career, Phillip Schofield is quietly rebuilding his life — and now a longtime friend has stepped forward to defend him.
Darren Day, the singer and former I’m A Celebrity contestant, revealed he recently saw Phil at a party alongside Ant and Dec — a reunion that proves life does go on for the former TV icon.
The pair share a history stretching back to 1993, when they starred together in Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat. Darren says their friendship remained strong through the years, including weekends away with their partners. He recalled trips with Phil and his wife Stephanie Lowe, alongside Darren and then-girlfriend Anna Friel, describing the times as full of laughter and fun.
Speaking to MailOnline, Darren reflected on Phil’s career-ending scandal: “Phil and I have been mates for a long time. It was a massive career to have taken away. I don’t know the ins and outs, but the Phil that I know is a good man. We were mates and had a lot of fun times together.”
For his part, Phillip has embraced a calmer, more private life since leaving This Morning in 2023 after confirming an “unwise but not illegal” affair with a younger male colleague. Living in a Victorian home in Chiswick, the dad-of-two told MailOnline: “Life is really calm and drama-free now. I decided a while ago that I just wanted a quiet life with family, friends I can trust and my dog… I’ve got used to my new life and I’m content with that and happy.”
While some doors may have closed, it seems Phil’s friendships remain strong — and with pals like Darren Day, Ant, and Dec still in his corner, the TV legend is quietly finding his footing once again.
