Coronation Street has revealed a first look at Sarah Platt’s dramatic arrest scene, as she’s finally caught out over Theo Silverton’s death.
While Sarah believes that she’s getting away with murder, there’s a nasty surprise in store as the Platts gather for a special occasion.
Monday’s (20 July) episode of the ITV soap is a special single-story edition focusing on the climax of Sarah’s storyline.
The day begins with Kit Green confidently predicting that Gary Windass is soon to be arrested, which he hopes will keep Sarah in the clear. However, as Kit is no longer on the case, his expert analysis isn’t too accurate this time!
At Sarah’s flat, she gets frustrated when she’s asked to record a Platt video message for Audrey Roberts’s birthday, but her brother David messes it up.
Suddenly, the door is bashed open and police swarm the flat – led by DS Lisa Connor-Swain. Lisa arrests Sarah under suspicion of Theo’s murder, with David, Bethany and Harry all there to witness the drama.
Sarah’s also shocked to find herself under arrest – is she now facing a long stretch behind bars? And how will Kit feel about his partner being collared by Lisa?
Jacob Roberts, who plays Kit, recently explained: “It’s a massive blow to his pride. Kit always has to prove himself right, he has to be the best and get one over on everyone.
“To have this happen behind his back, especially knowing that Swain and others were talking about it without him really hurts. He was working this case, he knew Gary was involved, but he just never realised the truth about Sarah until it was too late.
“Kit does start to feel for Sarah while she’s in prison. Plus, he’s now left looking after Harry. This entire mess was thrown upon him without his choice and he’s forced to take the reins and parent. Because they all live on the same street, he can’t just cut her off completely.”
“Right now, he’s just trying to stay strong so she stays strong. I think there’s always a chance for them, but only if Sarah stops protecting other people,” he added.
“The problem with Sarah is that she doesn’t tell Kit everything. If she isn’t willing to let her barriers down and be honest, I don’t think there’s a future for them.”
