Broadcaster and property expert Sarah Beeny has revealed how overcoming breast cancer has given her a renewed sense of purpose and a “whole life to live.” In an emotional interview, Sarah shared her journey, from the moment she was diagnosed in August 2022 to receiving the all-clear in 2023, and the remarkable transformation she’s undergone since.

The Property Ladder host, who had her chemotherapy treatment and fought through the challenging months of treatment, said the cancer diagnosis “feels like a lifetime ago now.” She shared that she was “fortunate” to have been diagnosed in time and received successful treatment, marking a new chapter in her life.
“I have a whole life to live now,” Sarah said in an interview with The Times, reflecting on her health battle and newfound perspective. The mother of four added, “Cancer was the big bad wolf to me, and now I’ve had it.”
A Tough Road: From Diagnosis to Recovery

Sarah’s journey with breast cancer began when she discovered a lump that led to a biopsy and subsequent diagnosis. The 54-year-old explained how her diagnosis was especially poignant given her mother’s death from breast cancer when Sarah was just 10 years old.

In the months following her diagnosis, Sarah had to undergo chemotherapy, during which she lost her hair. She bravely shared updates with her fans from her hospital bed, showing off the “tattoos” (markings on her chest) she received in preparation for her medical procedures. Her sons even joked about her new “ink” in posts on social media.
Despite the toll of treatment, Sarah remained positive and determined. She admitted to being “fortunate” that her cancer had been caught early, allowing her to undergo successful treatment. However, she’s quick to point out that the journey wasn’t easy: “It’s been a weird ride I wouldn’t wish on anyone else,” she said in a previous interview.
Grateful for the All-Clear, But Vigilant for the Future

Sarah received the all-clear from cancer in 2023, and while it was a joyous moment, she admitted it felt a bit anticlimactic. “It’s good. It’s weird. It’s kind of like they go ‘that’s it then’ and that’s the end of that,” she explained. “And you go ‘how do you know?’ and they say ‘well we don’t, we just think so.’”
Even though she’s been given the all-clear, Sarah still has ongoing medical treatment. “I have to take drugs for the next 10 years and be very vigilant,” she said, emphasizing that her battle is not entirely over. “But I feel like I’ve come out of it with a whole new outlook,” she added.
In her candid interview, Sarah shared how she didn’t want cancer to define her life. “If you had to sum up the 10 things I’m about, cancer wouldn’t be on the list,” she stated, determined to focus on the things that matter most to her, like her family and career.
Looking Forward to the Future
Now that Sarah has overcome the most difficult part of her battle with cancer, she’s ready to embrace the future with a renewed sense of gratitude. She’s looking forward to living her life to the fullest, especially now that her children are older, and she feels empowered to focus on her passions and career once more.
“I’ve got so much left to do,” she said, looking ahead to all the adventures and opportunities still to come. Sarah’s resilience and determination to live life on her own terms are an inspiration to all, and her message of hope serves as a reminder that, no matter what life throws our way, there is always a way to push through.
Her journey is far from over, but Sarah Beeny is proving that even the hardest battles can lead to brighter days. 💖
