Matty Healy is officially a married man — and his mother Denise Welch has described the spectacular Hollywood wedding as one of the happiest moments of her life.
The 1975 frontman, 37, has tied the knot with model and musician Gabbriette Bechtel, 28, in an intimate Los Angeles ceremony surrounded by family, close friends and famous faces.
But behind the glamour, celebrity guests and breathtaking Hollywood setting was something far more emotional: a proud mother watching her eldest son begin a completely new chapter.
And Denise’s reaction said everything.
“The happiest time of my life,” she declared after the celebrations — before revealing just how deeply the unforgettable three-day wedding had touched her.
A magical wedding beneath the Hollywood sign

Matty and Gabbriette reportedly exchanged vows during a private ceremony in Los Angeles after announcing their engagement in 2024.
The wedding was reportedly held at Madonna’s former estate in the Hollywood Hills, creating a spectacular backdrop for one of showbiz’s most talked-about couples.
Famous friends reportedly joined the celebrations, including Charli XCX and Nick Grimshaw, alongside the couple’s closest family and loved ones.
Yet for Denise, this wasn’t about the celebrity guest list.
It was about watching her son marry the woman he loves.
“To see my eldest son marry the most beautiful, funny, crazy girl under the Hollywood sign was a night I’ll never forget,” she shared emotionally.
“They are made for each other.”
Denise Welch stuns as proud mother of the groom

Denise embraced full Hollywood glamour for her son’s big day, wearing a striking dusty-pink off-the-shoulder gown with dramatic puff sleeves.
Sparkling jewellery, dangling earrings and glamorous makeup completed her mother-of-the-groom look.
But while her appearance attracted plenty of attention, it was her emotional words afterwards that truly captured the significance of the occasion.
“This weekend was the most magical 3 days of my life!!!” Denise wrote.
She admitted finding herself looking around during the celebrations, almost unable to believe that so many friends and family members had gathered together in Los Angeles to witness Matty and Gabbriette’s marriage.
Then came perhaps her most touching declaration:
“We love our daughter in law and our new family.”
Behind all the Hollywood glamour was simply a mother overwhelmed with happiness at seeing two families become one.
From whirlwind romance to husband and wife
Matty and Gabbriette’s relationship first attracted attention in 2023, and their romance quickly became serious.
By June 2024, Gabbriette sent engagement rumours into overdrive when she showed off a striking black diamond ring with the playful message: “Marrying The 1975 is very brat.”
Denise later confirmed the engagement — and from that moment, fans began wondering when the unconventional couple would finally walk down the aisle.
Now, they have their answer.
Their relationship has officially entered its biggest chapter yet.
Gabbriette has carved out her own distinctive career as a model, musician and social media personality. She is also known as the lead vocalist and songwriter of punk band Nasty Cherry, which was formed with the involvement of Charli XCX.
That connection makes their creative circle particularly close-knit, with Charli married to The 1975 drummer George Daniel.
Matty, meanwhile, has spent more than a decade as one of British music’s most recognisable and talked-about frontmen.
The 1975 built a huge international following through hits including Chocolate, Somebody Else and Girls, while achieving five UK number one albums and eventually headlining Glastonbury.
Now, while the band remains on an indefinite hiatus from live performances, Matty has reached a very different milestone away from the stage.
He has become a husband.
An unforgettable celebration, Matty and Gabbriette style
Even before the wedding, it was clear this was never going to be an entirely conventional celebration.
Matty reportedly marked his stag festivities by performing with The 9075 — a tribute band dedicated to his own group.
Gabbriette, meanwhile, celebrated her hen party in Las Vegas with typically theatrical flair.
Her celebrations reportedly included playful staged scenes, an Elvis impersonator and a meeting with burlesque star Dita Von Teese.
But when the parties were over and the wedding day finally arrived, something much more meaningful took centre stage.
Love.
Family.
And a mother watching her eldest son say “I do”.
A new chapter begins
For years, Matty’s life has played out beneath the glare of public attention — through chart-topping albums, huge tours, controversies and endless headlines.
But this moment was different.
Beneath the Hollywood sign, surrounded by the people who mattered most, Matty and Gabbriette began their married life together.
And perhaps nobody summed up the emotion better than Denise.
After watching her son perform on some of the biggest stages in the world, this was the moment that seemed to mean more than any sold-out arena or number-one record.
Her eldest son had found the woman he wanted to marry.
She had gained a daughter-in-law.
Two families had become one.
And for one unforgettable Hollywood weekend, Denise could only describe it in the simplest way possible:
“The happiest time of my life.”
