The silence after the season felt unfamiliar in Kansas City.
For the first time in more than a decade, the Kansas City Chiefs watched January football from home. A once-unthinkable reality became official in 2025, as the Chiefs stumbled to a 6ā11 finish ā ending a legendary 10-year playoff run and missing the postseason for the first time since 2014.
It was also the first time the Chiefs failed to qualify for the playoffs since Patrick Mahomes took over as the teamās starter in 2018.
And at the center of it all stood Travis Kelce ā the face of an era that now finds itself at a crossroads.
The End of an Era ā Or the Start of Something Else?
At 36, Kelce still delivered. He finished the season with 76 receptions, 851 yards, and five touchdowns, all while cementing his place in franchise history as the Chiefsā all-time touchdown leader with 85.
But numbers no longer tell the whole story.
After completing his 13th NFL season, Kelce now faces the biggest decision of his career: return for a 14th year ā or walk away while his legacy is secure.
If this truly is the end, it wonāt be a quiet one.
Life Beyond Football Is Already Waiting
Kelceās post-football blueprint is already well underway. Away from the field, he has built an expanding business empire ā including 1587 Prime, a Kansas City steakhouse co-owned with Mahomes, plus investments in Casa Azul Tequila, Garage Beer, and an ownership stake in Six Flags.
And then thereās the microphone.
In September 2022, Travis and his brother Jason Kelce launched the wildly popular New Heights ā a nod to their Cleveland Heights upbringing that quickly became one of the most influential sports podcasts in the world.
The show has hosted a growing list of high-profile guests, including Matt Damon and Jameis Winston ā and even featured a special appearance by Travisā fiancĆ©e, Taylor Swift, who joined ahead of the 2025 season to unveil her album The Life of a Showgirl.
But perhaps the most surprising star of the Kelce universe has been their mother.
Donna Kelce Steps Fully Into the Spotlight
Once known simply as āthe NFL mom,ā Donna Kelce has become a celebrity in her own right.
She recently appeared as a contestant on season four of The Traitors, and over the weekend, fans spotted her face towering above Times Square ā thanks to a billboard promoting the show.
But that wasnāt the only Kelce presence lighting up New York.
Donna also revealed a second Times Square billboard celebrating the launch of the New Heights Kelce Clubhouse ā an Amazon-backed online retail hub tied to the podcast, featuring exclusive merchandise and imagery of both Jason and Travis.
Sharing the moment on Instagram, Donna wrote simply:
āThe boys Times Square Billboardā¦ā

Waiting on One Final Decision
As Donna celebrates new chapters of her own ā with five episodes of The Traitors already released and another airing this week ā her sonās future remains undecided.
Football or farewell.
Return or reinvention.
For Travis Kelce, the Chiefsā season may be over ā but the spotlight isnāt going anywhere.
