I’m A Celebrity winner Adam Thomas opened up about the emotional toll the show had on him, admitting it “nearly broke him” as he posted a heartfelt birthday tribute to his wife, Caroline Daly, just hours after the show’s chaotic live finale. Adam, who was crowned King of the Jungle, chose to skip the Unpacked spin-off, leaving viewers questioning his absence following explosive confrontations with rivals Jimmy Bullard and David Haye during the tense final episode.

The drama erupted when Jimmy accused Adam of being “abusive, aggressive, and intimidating” during an expletive-filled clash in pre-recorded footage from last year, before David claimed Adam was playing the victim. The confrontation left the finale in turmoil, with tensions boiling over as Gemma Collins and Sinitta stormed off stage in fury.
In the wake of the drama, Adam shared a smiling photo of himself and Caroline, his wife of 11 years, alongside their children Teddy, 11, and Elsie-Rose, 7. In his emotional Instagram post, Adam reflected on the challenges he faced during his time in the jungle, writing, “I walked through this journey with my heart first, no matter what came my way… It was not always easy, there were moments that could have broken me, but I stayed true to myself and that is something I will always be proud of.”

Adam went on to express his feelings about the negative comments he received, saying, “I have realized that when people try to dim your light, it says more about them than it ever will about you. This experience has shown me my strength in ways I never imagined. Not because of any title or recognition, but because I stayed kind, I stayed grounded, and I stayed real.”

The actor also praised his wife for her unwavering support, saying, “Family means everything to me, and there is one person who has been my rock through it all. Happy birthday to my beautiful wife, you have stood by me when things were tough and reminded me of my strength when I needed it most. I would not be who I am without you.”

Adam finished the post with gratitude for his supporters and a message of positivity, writing, “To everyone who supported me, who believed in me, and showed love, thank you, it means more than I can ever put into words. And to those who doubted me or tried to bring me down, I carry no negativity towards you. I have already won in the ways that matter most. I have love, I have happiness, and I have stayed true to myself, and that is something no one can ever take away from me.”
The finale saw Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly struggling to control the situation as Jimmy and David continued to accuse Adam of being the cause of the chaos. While the hosts allowed Jimmy to air his grievances, they defended their decision to cut out certain unbroadcastable content, including Adam’s use of the C-word.
As tensions continued to escalate, Adam apologized publicly to Jimmy, saying he took full responsibility for his actions. However, David continued to criticize Adam, accusing the show of editing footage to portray him as the victim.
Despite the ongoing drama, Adam’s supporters have rallied behind him, with many fans expressing their disbelief at how the finale played out. Adam’s absence from Unpacked left viewers wondering whether the emotional aftermath of the show had taken a toll on him.
