šŸ’„ ā€œPeople Aren’t Afraid of Them Anymoreā€ — NFL Legend Jared Allen Sounds the Alarm on the Chiefs’ Decline

Jared Allen gives his Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement speech

The Kansas City Chiefs — once the NFL’s most feared dynasty — may have lost their edge. And Hall of Famer Jared Allen isn’t afraid to say it.

Appearing on Up & Adams with Kay Adams this week, the former Chiefs pass rusher didn’t hold back, delivering a powerful and sobering critique of the team’s recent trajectory following their crushing Super Bowl LIX loss and shaky start to the 2025 season.

āš ļø “The Fear Factor Is Gone”

Drawing from his passion for MMA, Allen compared the Chiefs to former UFC legend Chuck Liddell — a once-untouchable force who, after one brutal knockout, was never feared the same way again.

ā€œThat beating the Eagles put on the Chiefs… that wasn’t just a tough day,ā€ Allen said. ā€œThey laid the foundation for how people are going to attack them. Unless the Chiefs take a long look in the mirror… people aren’t afraid of them anymore.ā€

And the numbers back him up: While the Chiefs posted an impressive 15 wins in 2024, 12 were decided by a single possession. The Super Bowl was a disaster — a 38-10 rout by the Eagles. And this year? They opened the season with a loss to the Chargers, looking vulnerable on both sides of the ball.

šŸ”§ What Needs to Change?

According to Allen, the Chiefs need to get back to fundamentals:

Run the ball with authority.

Feed Travis Kelce.

Control the line of scrimmage.

ā€œWhy is Tom Brady considered the greatest? Because he played within the system. They ran the ball. They controlled the clock. The Chiefs have to do the same,ā€ Allen explained.

He believes that giving Mahomes a stronger run game — and re-centering the offense around Kelce — will bring balance back to Kansas City’s game plan.

šŸƒ But Can the Chiefs Actually Run the Ball?

Here’s the problem: the Chiefs don’t have a dominant rushing game right now.

Isiah Pacheco, expected to break out, has struggled to make a leap.

Kareem Hunt, now 30, looks like he’s nearing the end.

The team didn’t make a major move at RB in the offseason — and it’s showing.

Even if the Chiefs want to run the ball, their current personnel might not be able to deliver.

šŸŽÆ Is Kelce Still the Answer?

With rookie WR Xavier Worthy likely sidelined for a while, it’s clear that Kansas City will need to rely even more heavily on Travis Kelce. But Kelce, now in the twilight of his career, can’t be expected to carry the offense like he did in his prime.

ā€œIf I’ve got one of the best tight ends to ever play,ā€ Allen said, ā€œI’m feeding him the ball.ā€

But Kelce can’t do it alone — someone in the receiving corps will need to step up. Right now, there’s no clear answer.

NFL Fact or Fiction: Chiefs Will Finish the Regular Season 17–0

Despite the criticism, Allen isn’t counting the Chiefs out — not with Mahomes under center and Andy Reid on the sidelines. There are 16 games left to play, and plenty of time to right the ship.

But his message is clear: the mystique is fading. The league has caught up. And if Kansas City wants to stay on top, they’ll need to evolve — fast.

ā€œThat loss to the Eagles wasn’t just a loss. It was a blueprint. And now the Chiefs have to prove they’re still the team no one wants to face.ā€
