Zara McDermott and Louis Tomlinson could soon be walking down the aisle, with friends revealing the couple are more in love than ever and seriously discussing tying the knot.

The pair began dating just ten months ago before making their relationship Instagram-official last summer — and Zara marked her 29th birthday in December by sharing a cosy snap with Louis, captioning it: “The best birthday ever with you & the final year of my 20s.”

Now, sources say the former One Direction star is “on the verge” of proposing.

“You’ve never seen a couple so in love,” a source tells us. “They are absolutely blissful together — I genuinely think we could be hearing wedding bells very soon.”

Louis previously revealed how Zara has influenced his upcoming album, explaining on Steven Bartlett’s Diary Of A CEO podcast:
“I’m a deeply romantic person. For me it has to be real — I have to be living it. If I wasn’t feeling so in love, the record would sound totally different.”

In early December, Louis’ twin sisters Daisy and Phoebe confirmed Zara would be spending Christmas with the family, describing her as their brother’s “new family member”.

Zara is said to have arrived in Louis’ life at a critical moment. The singer was left heartbroken last October after the death of his former bandmate Liam Payne at just 31, following a fall from a hotel balcony.

In an emotional tribute, Louis wrote:
“I feel beyond lucky to have had you in my life but I’m really struggling with the idea of saying goodbye.”

The tragedy followed earlier heartbreaks. Louis lost his mother Johannah Deakin to leukaemia in 2016 aged 43, and in 2019 his sister Félicité died of an accidental overdose aged 18.

Later reflecting on the losses, Louis said:
“I’ve been to rock bottom. Whatever my career throws at me now will never be as emotionally heavy as that. I’ve turned something really dark into something that empowers me.”

Friends say Zara — who previously dated Made In Chelsea star Sam Thompson for five years — has been a breath of fresh air.

“Louis has been through so much,” our source adds. “Losing his sister, losing Liam — Zara has been a huge comfort. She respects everything he’s been through, and he’s completely smitten with her. This is true love, not a showbiz romance.”

The insider even hinted that a baby could be in their future:
“He’s realised life is short. Zara is The One.”

Despite Louis’ global fame, the couple are said to enjoy a simple life together — cuddling up watching Netflix, going for walks, and spending time in bobble hats rather than chasing red-carpet glitz.

“One Direction were the biggest boyband in the world,” says the source, “but Zara loves the person inside — not the celebrity.”
