Kelly Ripa shocked her audience this week when she lashed out at Live With Kelly And Mark viewers who admitted they felt “offended” after she spoke about a very private subject on air.

The 54-year-old star, joined by her husband and co-host Mark Consuelos, decided to bring up the often-taboo topic of bras during Wednesday morning’s show — and she did not hold back.
“Bras! Bras, everyone,” Ripa suddenly declared, drawing laughs and raised eyebrows from the live audience. “Bras are older than you think. And I don’t mean just my bra. I mean bras.”

Mark couldn’t resist jumping in with his own question, asking Kelly how old the “average age” of her bras might be. Kelly quickly fired back with her trademark wit: “Thousands of years. My bras last forever because they don’t get a big workout.”
She continued joking, “I’m not asking a lot of them, if you know what I mean. Basically, I wear a bra to hold my microphone on.”
But the banter soon turned fiery. Addressing the audience directly, Kelly stunned viewers with a blunt retort: “And I don’t care if you’re offended. Shut it.”
Fans Divided Over Kelly’s Outburst
The moment quickly lit up social media, with some fans applauding her unfiltered honesty while others said they were stunned by her sharp words.
Ripa kept the laughs coming by teasing Mark about his “expertise” with certain bra designs, confessing to the crowd that her husband had been “very good” at handling front-snap styles. “I was impressed,” she admitted with a grin. Mark, meanwhile, compared her current bras to tank tops, keeping the exchange lighthearted.
Behind the Jokes: Kelly’s Openness About Her Body
Kelly has never been shy about discussing body image. She admitted on air that despite buying countless bras, most “just sit in the plastic bag they came in” because she rarely wears them.
She’s also revealed in past interviews that she has considered breast augmentation. On the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast in July, she said candidly: “I have no boobs. We know that I’m flat-chested. It’s not a mystery. I’ve gone to more breast augmentation consults than I’d like to admit.”
But so far, she has avoided surgery, citing “horror stories” she has read about online. Instead, she has leaned toward less invasive treatments. Earlier this year, Kelly shared she is open to a “mini facelift” in the future and admitted she gets Botox injections about three times a year, focusing only on her crow’s feet and neck.
“I’m a minimalist,” she said. “I don’t overdo it.”
Life On and Off Screen with Mark
Kelly and Mark began co-hosting Live together in 2023 after Ryan Seacrest’s exit, but recently both had absences from the show. Kelly revealed she had been away on a summer trip, while Mark missed episodes due to filming a new project in Los Angeles.
Despite being married since 1996 and raising three children — Michael, 28, Lola, 24, and Joaquin, 22 — Kelly confessed their schedules often keep them apart.
“We don’t really see each other that much, believe it or not,” she told E! News in July. “It seems that way because you see us on TV, but in reality, we have very separate schedules and interests. We come together at night, have a nice dinner, and that’s when we reconnect.”
Still, the couple’s chemistry on-screen — and moments like Wednesday’s bra outburst — prove that their mix of humor, bluntness, and intimacy continues to keep Live With Kelly And Mark one of the most talked-about daytime shows.
