Phillip Schofield has finally spoken out about his hopes of returning to television — and the emotional scars left behind by the scandal that forced him to step away from This Morning.
In a tearful interview, the former ITV host admitted that the controversy surrounding his departure had “destroyed” him, confessing that he has been living under the weight of regret and relentless public scrutiny ever since.
Breaking down on camera, Schofield said:
“I know what I did was unwise, but is it really enough to completely ruin someone? The scandal has devastated me. Without my girls, I don’t think I’d be here today.”
The presenter revealed that his two daughters, Molly and Ruby, became his lifeline in his darkest hours — refusing to leave his side and ensuring he never strayed from their watchful care.
“They saved my life,” he said. “They protected me and never let me out of their sight.”
Schofield also strongly denied accusations that he “groomed” his younger partner, despite admitting that they first met when the man was just 15 years old. The broadcaster insisted that while his actions were a “mistake,” they were never predatory.
With emotions running high, the 62-year-old expressed a longing for one last chance to prove himself on screen, even as he acknowledged that his reputation has been permanently scarred.
“I’d love to return, even just once,” he confessed. “Television has been my life. But the question is — will anyone ever let me?”
For now, Phillip Schofield remains in the shadows of the industry that once made him a household name — clinging to the support of his family, and wondering if forgiveness, and redemption, are still possible.
