Today’s Dylan Dreyer Left Feeling ‘A Little Sad’ After On-Air Exchange With Co-Stars – Viewers Shocked By What Came Next

Dylan Dreyer has been a familiar face on NBC’s Today since 2012, serving as a meteorologist and anchor of the Third Hour. But even after more than a decade on the show, she’s still learning new things every day — and not all of them leave her smiling.

On Tuesday’s broadcast, the beloved morning star found herself admitting she felt “a little sad” during a lively conversation with her co-anchors. The group had been discussing new words recently added to the dictionary. While Savannah Sellers and Brian Cheung breezed through the meanings with ease, Dylan and Craig Melvin struggled to keep up.

At one point, Craig turned to Dylan and joked: “Have you ever felt older than you do at this news desk right now?” Dylan, laughing but visibly caught off guard, confessed: “No, and I feel a little sad about it.”

Her candid moment struck a chord with viewers. Dylan has long been adored for her honesty and down-to-earth nature, often letting fans into her personal life. From juggling the chaos of raising three young children to balancing her high-pressure TV role, she’s never shied away from showing the real side of her world.

Recently, though, Dylan has been opening up about a much more personal chapter. In July, she revealed on social media that she and her husband of 12 years, Brian Fichera, had quietly separated. Despite the split, the two have remained incredibly close, even celebrating Dylan’s birthday together earlier this month with their three sons — Calvin, Oliver, and Rusty — along with Dylan’s former Today colleague Hoda Kotb and her daughters.

In her emotional post announcing the separation, Dylan wrote:
“For many years, I have shared my family with you all — the highs and lows, the ups and downs, and all of the blessings and beautiful memories in between. I am incredibly grateful for the support and love you’ve given me through it all. For that reason, I want to share with you that a few months ago, Brian and I made the decision to separate.”

She continued: “We began as friends, and we will remain the closest of friends. Most importantly, we will continue to co-parent our three wonderful boys together with nothing but love and respect for one another. Thank you as always for your support.”

Dylan and Brian’s story began in Boston while both worked for NBC. The pair tied the knot in 2012 and frequently shared glimpses of their family life online. Back in 2022, Dylan even revealed that due to their hectic schedules, they often communicated during the week mostly through text messages.

Now, while her on-air banter may bring moments of laughter and even a little sadness, her openness continues to keep fans rooting for her every step of the way.
