The 44-year-old singer appeared on the GB News morning show to discuss her cosmetic procedures, proudly showing off the results of her facelift from a year ago.

But what should have been a light-hearted chat turned into a tense moment when Eamonn, 65, commented on her appearance, saying she looked “Oriental.”

“Are you happy with the eyes?” Eamonn asked as Kerry explained: “I had them done over a year ago. My eyes felt a bit heavy, so I had an uplift.”

Before she could finish, Eamonn interjected with the now-controversial remark:

“And you don’t look Oriental or anything, do you?”

Kerry was left speechless, struggling to respond as the atmosphere in the studio grew awkward.

Trying to steer the conversation away from the uncomfortable moment, co-host Ellie Costello quickly said: “But Kerry looks beautiful.” Eamonn Holmes makes 'oriental' comment about Kerry Katona's latest plastic surgery

Eamonn added, in a tone many viewers later slammed as insincere:

“Kerry looks well. I’m sorry if you don’t look well or if we have offended you in any way or… oh, I don’t know.”

Following the backlash, GB News bosses reportedly demanded an apology. Forced to address the situation live, Eamonn reluctantly said:

“Apparently you’re not allowed to describe someone as looking Oriental… I don’t know how else I’m supposed to describe Kerry Katona if her eyes change shape. The world is ridiculous.”

His comments only fueled more criticism, with viewers calling the apology “bitter” and “unprofessional.”

Kerry’s Surgery Journey

Earlier this year, Kerry revealed that she canceled a planned lower facelift after her children begged her to reconsider.

Speaking to The Mirror, the mother of five admitted she was excited to undergo the procedure but had a change of heart after her daughters expressed their concerns.

“My eldest three girls really didn’t want me to do it. They were begging me: ‘Mum, please don’t,’” Kerry shared. “I knew they didn’t want me to, so that massively impacted my decision. They don’t think I need it yet and they know how tough the recovery would be.”

The singer, who previously underwent corrective nose surgery, also admitted that recovering from that procedure was “the most horrendous thing” she had ever experienced.

“It’s tough emotionally when you’re healing because you look so different,” she explained. “I don’t think I’m ready to go through that again right now — I just don’t have the time with everything so busy.”

A Word Now Considered Offensive

The word “Oriental” was officially flagged as offensive in the UK in 2021. Police and government agencies were instructed to stop using the term in reports after updated guidance from the Home Office.

Labour MP Sarah Owen, the first female MP of Chinese descent, has described the term as “incredibly outdated” and harmful when used to describe people of East or Southeast Asian heritage.

Kerry’s Busy Life

Despite the drama, Kerry continues to juggle a hectic life. She is mum to five children — Molly, 23, and Lilly, 23, from her marriage to Brian McFadden; Heidi, 18, and Max, 17, with ex-husband Mark Croft; and her youngest, DJ, 10, with her late husband George Kay.

At 44, Kerry says she has “no shame” in tweaking her appearance when she wants to but insists any future surgery will only happen when the time feels right.
