Sam Thompson Reveals Zara McDermott Took His Favourite Crocs After Their Split — As He Opens a Happy New Chapter
Sam Thompson has shared a cheeky post-breakup confession that has fans laughing — revealing that his ex, Zara McDermott, left their relationship with one of his most treasured possessions.
The Made In Chelsea star, 33, spilled the playful secret on his Staying Relevant podcast with best mate Pete Wicks, 37, as the pair joked about Sam’s questionable fashion choices.
Sam and Strictly Come Dancing favourite Zara, 28, officially confirmed their split back in January after five years together. The former couple had previously shared a home in west London.
During the latest podcast episode, Pete playfully asked Sam what he’d wear to a glamorous celebrity fashion event.
“Got to be the Crocs,” Sam joked. “Shock value. Get the jelly shoes on.”
Pete laughed before trailing off:
“You haven’t worn the Crocs for a while now because you…”
That’s when Sam dropped the bombshell:
“Yeah — Zara took them.”
Pete’s horrified reaction said it all:
“Oh God.”
Sam then added with mock despair:
“I actually don’t even own any Crocs anymore. I need a new pair.”
For those unfamiliar, Crocs are the lightweight foam shoes with signature air holes and a back strap — a controversial fashion choice Sam clearly took great pride in.
A Fresh Start With New Girlfriend Talitha Balinska
Sam’s light-hearted confession comes just days after he went Instagram official with his new girlfriend, Talitha Balinska.
The Sun revealed back in October that Sam had begun dating the house music DJ following his breakup with Zara. The pair first crossed paths during a photoshoot for Sam’s sunglasses brand, Dinelli Eyewear, and quietly went on several dates afterward.
Later in the podcast, Sam couldn’t hide his excitement as he proudly declared:
“I’ve got a girlfriend. I’ve got a girlfriend!”
He then revealed how he made things official during a dinner date.
“I told her I really, really liked her — and that she made me feel comfortable,” he said.
“I said I wouldn’t be seeing someone this long if I didn’t think it could last. So I asked her to be my girlfriend… and she said yes.”
Sam’s joy was unmistakable as he added a simple but delighted:
“And I said, ‘Great!’”
Zara Has Also Moved On
Meanwhile, Zara McDermott is also said to be embracing a new chapter. It was previously revealed that she is now dating One Direction superstar Louis Tomlinson, marking a major new romance following her split from Sam.
While Sam may still be mourning the loss of his beloved Crocs, it’s clear both he and Zara are firmly moving forward — each in their own way.
