The Made In Chelsea star, 28, married his pregnant fiancée Alice Yaxley, 24, in an intimate registry office ceremony — choosing love, commitment and hope at a moment when his own health has forced him to confront his mortality.

The couple exchanged vows at Chelsea Registry Office, surrounded only by their closest family and friends, before marking the day with a discreet luxury dinner.

Last month, viewers watched as he revealed on Made In Chelsea that he has been diagnosed with irreversible end-stage liver disease, with doctors initially warning that without a transplant, his life expectancy could be limited to four or five years.
Born with congenital hepatic fibrosis and polycystic kidney disease, Sam had lived symptom-free for most of his life — until last December, when his organs began shutting down without warning.
“I Thought: Am I Going to Die?”
Speaking candidly on Paul C Brunson’s We Need To Talk podcast, Sam described the moment everything changed.
“I got a notification on the NHS app,” he recalled.
“It was four lines long. It said I needed to attend a liver transplant assessment. I think your heart stops.”
The news arrived shortly after he learned Alice was pregnant.
Asked what went through his mind, Sam admitted through tears:
“Fear. Pure fear. Am I going to die?”
His thoughts immediately turned to the future he feared he might miss — and to his late father Mark Vanderpump, who died in 2018.
“My dad will never meet his grandchild,” he said.
“Then you ask yourself… am I going to see my child?”
Headlines That Hurt — and a Family That Held Him Up
Since going public with his diagnosis, Sam has spoken openly about the emotional toll of media coverage.
“Every headline said ‘four or five years left to live’,” he said.
“That’s not true — but reading it broke me.”
The pressure led to a recent breakdown — until his aunt Lisa Vanderpump, 65, stepped in.
“She gave me the kick up the backside I needed,” Sam admitted.
“She reminded me why I’m doing this.”
A Son Named for Legacy
The couple announced in September that they are expecting a baby boy, due on Valentine’s Day.
They have already chosen his name: Marmaduke, nicknamed Duke — a tribute to Sam’s late father.
Despite the uncertainty ahead, Sam remains determined.
“Liver transplants are extremely successful,” he said.
