The New Heights studio went silent for a moment this week — and it wasn’t because of a wild stat line or a locker-room story.
It was because Jameis Winston casually revealed he once gave up sex for an entire year… to save his NFL career.
Appearing on the Kelce brothers’ podcast, the 32-year-old quarterback dropped the bombshell while explaining how far he was willing to go to regain focus during one of the most turbulent stretches of his life.
“I was having one of the most up-and-down years off the field,” Winston admitted. At the time, he had just proposed to Breion — now his wife — and decided he needed a total reset. His solution? Celibacy.
Not halfway. Not a few weeks.
A full year.
“My parents used to talk to me about ‘shacking,’” he said, using the term for couples living together before marriage. “So I said, ‘We’ve got to eliminate that.’”
To make the vow stick, Winston literally moved out.
“I bought a separate property and stayed away from my house,” he explained, noting he proposed to Breion while she was eight months pregnant with their first son.
The confession left Jason Kelce scrambling for words — before cracking a joke that sent the room into laughter.
“Don’t take a blacklight into that house,” Jason quipped.
Behind the humor was something deeper. Winston said the experience reshaped how he now talks to young athletes.
“What are you doing off the field consistently?” he asks them. “That’s where the real battle is.”
Today, Winston and Breion — high-school sweethearts from Alabama — are married with two sons, Antonor and Malachi. His career has taken twists and turns, but the discipline he described on the podcast still defines how he sees success.
Sometimes, the biggest sacrifices never show up on the stat sheet.
