Kelly Osbourne has spoken out about the cruel criticism of her body, blasting online trolls for “dissecting someone’s appearance instead of honouring their courage.” The 41-year-old daughter of the late Ozzy Osbourne and Sharon Osbourne attended the Brit Awards in Manchester on Saturday to collect a posthumous Lifetime Achievement award for her father, who passed away in July.

While celebrating Ozzy’s incredible life and legacy, Kelly also became the target of negative comments about her appearance online. After the event, Kelly took to social media to speak out about the hurtful comments, revealing how difficult it was to endure such cruelty during a time of public grief.

On Monday, Kelly shared a post by Mia Tyler, the daughter of Aerosmith’s Steve Tyler, who expressed her support for Kelly with an impassioned message. “How hard is it to not be a d**k?” Mia wrote, urging people to think before making hurtful comments. The lengthy statement read: “Public grief is not public property. Grief can change a person. That doesn’t make their body a topic for debate.”

Mia continued, “Before you comment on someone’s body, consider the possibility that they’re carrying something heavier than your opinion… It takes real strength to stand in the public eye accepting accolades for their late iconic father and hold themselves together in front of the world…”

Mia’s post urged followers to show kindness rather than cruelty, stating, “The least we can do is show the same grace in return. Kindness costs nothing. Cruelty costs character.” She also encouraged people to consider how their words could hurt those going through difficult times, especially public figures like Kelly who are grieving the loss of a loved one.

Kelly responded to the ongoing body-shaming in a post of her own. She said, “There is a special kind of cruelty in harming someone who is clearly going through something… Kicking me while I’m down, doubting my pain, spreading my struggles as gossip, and turning your back when I need support and love most… None of it proves strength, it only reveals a profound absence of character.”

Kelly, who attended the event with her mother Sharon, wore a glamorous black dress paired with a feathered jacket to keep warm. The mother-daughter duo both dressed in black, with Kelly radiating elegance on the red carpet as they made their way into the Co-op Live Arena.

Following the event, Kelly’s recent appearance sparked genuine concern about her health and wellbeing, especially after attending London Fashion Week, where she appeared noticeably slimmer. While Kelly has denied using weight loss jabs, her appearance led to widespread commentary about her health, with some expressing worry.

Despite the support from fans and loved ones, Kelly continued to face criticism online, including one particularly vile comment that read: “Looks like a dead body… she’s too thin and fragile… looks like she’s going to see her dad soon,” followed by a string of laughing emojis.

Disgusted by the cruelty, Kelly shared the comment on Instagram, writing: “Literally can’t believe how disgusting some human beings are! No one deserves this sort of abuse!” Alongside her own post, she expressed how harmful and upsetting these types of messages can be for those already dealing with immense personal pain.

In response to the online bullying, Kelly has continued to speak out in support of herself and others who experience similar cruel treatment. She has encouraged her followers to choose kindness over cruelty and to remember the human beings behind the headlines.
