A new development in the mysterious disappearance of Nancy Guthrie is drawing renewed attention after authorities confirmed fresh details about a vehicle connected to the investigation. Law enforcement officials say the blue Honda CR-V linked to Nancy’s daughter Annie Guthrie and her husband Tommaso Cioni remains in police custody — and what investigators searched for inside the vehicle could prove more significant than previously believed. 
The Vehicle Still Held by Authorities
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that the Honda CR-V connected to the case has not yet been returned to the family as of Wednesday, March 11. Officials say the vehicle was seized as part of the investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance and remains under law enforcement control while procedures continue.
Authorities noted that they are in the process of preparing the vehicle to be returned, although an exact timeline has not yet been determined. 
Why Investigators Focused on the Car
The car has become a key piece of the investigation because it was one of the final locations where Nancy, 84, was known to be shortly before she vanished.
Investigators reportedly conducted an extensive search of the vehicle’s interior, likely attempting to gather DNA evidence and any possible trace clues that might help reconstruct Nancy’s final movements.
During the March 10 episode of Nancy Grace’s Crime Stories podcast, investigative reporter Dave Mack revealed that the vehicle is currently located at a mechanic shop.
“The vehicle is at the auto mechanic right now, where it is still in the custody of the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, not the Guthries, and is being worked on,” Mack explained. He added that the Honda was reportedly being “put back together” after investigators completed a detailed forensic examination.
The Timeline Before Nancy Vanished
According to the official timeline released by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, Nancy Guthrie traveled to her daughter’s home on Saturday, January 31, using an Uber.
After spending time together and having dinner with family, her son-in-law Tommaso Cioni drove her back to her home, which is located roughly ten minutes away.
Sheriff Chris Nanos previously stated that Cioni made sure his mother-in-law safely entered her house before leaving that evening.
However, investigators later determined that sometime during the night, someone may have entered Nancy’s home and abducted her. What exactly happened inside the residence — and why — remains unknown.
Another Vehicle Also Seized 
Authorities also impounded Nancy’s personal vehicle, which had been parked in her garage when deputies arrived at her home on Sunday, February 1. Officials have not yet publicly clarified the current status of that vehicle.
Investigation Continues
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI are continuing to work closely together as they search for answers in the case.
Sheriff Chris Nanos has previously stated that members of Nancy Guthrie’s immediate family — including Annie Guthrie and Tommaso Cioni — have been cleared as suspects in the investigation.
Despite that clarification, investigators remain focused on every possible lead as they work to determine what happened during the hours after Nancy was last seen.
For now, the discovery and examination of the vehicle linked to Nancy’s final known movements could still hold crucial clues as authorities continue their search for the truth.
