A new book claims Queen Camilla told a friend that Meghan Markle had “brainwashed” Prince Harry, escalating the tension between the Sussexes and the rest of the Royal Family. The dramatic account suggests that this tension began just weeks after Harry and Meghan’s honeymoon in 2018, and it’s been spiraling ever since.
In an explosive revelation, author Tom Bower details a supposedly peaceful teatime gathering between Harry and his brother William, which took a dramatic turn when Meghan reportedly snapped at William, saying, “If you don’t mind, get your finger out of my face.”
The Royal Family’s growing concern over Harry’s changing behavior—partly due to Meghan’s influence—is at the heart of this turmoil. Sources close to the family reveal that Harry even secretly changed his mobile phone number.
“Meghan’s brainwashed Harry,” Camilla allegedly confided to a friend, reflecting deep concerns about the prince’s shifting identity and growing estrangement from his family. While Harry’s brother William had long harbored doubts about the rapid pace of Harry’s relationship with Meghan, Bower claims that these misgivings were shared by Kate, the Princess of Wales, who was reportedly worried about Meghan’s influence.
According to the book, the Royal Family worried Meghan’s ambition might destabilize Harry and the monarchy. She reportedly disliked the reality that, as a member of the royal family, she would never become queen. Instead of accepting the traditional role of the “spare” royal, Harry distanced himself from his old circle of friends and grew obsessed with “seeking revenge” on those who disagreed with him.
Since the couple stepped back from their royal duties and relocated to California in 2020, they have been largely isolated from Britain. Meghan has been focused on building a commercial brand in the U.S., while the couple’s public image remains a topic of controversy. Their recent attempts to boost their reputation—such as filming a visit to a soup kitchen during California’s wildfires—were criticized by many, with some accusing them of staging a “publicity stunt.”
As tensions persist, there is little hope for a royal reconciliation, even as Harry reportedly hopes his father, Prince Charles, will open the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham.
