Back in 2014, while Matt was preparing for a new panel show called Reality Bites, he made a joke that would unknowingly spark years of tension. The 34-year-old comic was joking about Nicole Appleton, Holly’s close friend and All Saints star. In a TikTok video, Matt recalled the incident: “It was 2014. I was doing a run-through for a new show, and I made a joke about Nicole – something about her being ‘one celebrity’ with the other two panelists. It was funny, everyone laughed.”

Matt recalled, “Holly confronted me, saying ‘You made a joke about Nicole and it was f***ing unacceptable. How dare you?’ I was like, ‘Wait, Nicole isn’t bothered, right?’ She said, ‘No, it’s fine.’ But Holly wasn’t having it.”
The drama didn’t end there. The fallout from that moment hung in the air, and when Matt appeared on Dancing On Ice in 2021, the two barely exchanged words. “We didn’t speak at all, really. It was during Covid, and I was busy with training. Maybe she still thinks I’m a t**t, I don’t know,” he added, leaving the audience wondering what really went on behind the scenes.
