In his new! magazine column, Peter candidly discussed the tough situation, writing: “It’s really hard to talk about my mum no longer being able to speak. I’m hoping it can be helpful to others in similar circumstances. Mum has Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, and unfortunately, she can’t speak anymore.”

Peter shared how he FaceTimes his mother twice a day, while his youngest daughter, Belle, talks to her Yiayia (Greek for grandmother) as best as she can. Although the situation is heartbreaking, Peter finds solace in these small moments, even though his mum can’t respond.

Peter revealed the bittersweet milestone of his parents celebrating 70 years of marriage this year. He expressed gratitude for their longevity but noted how it made him appreciate life differently. His dad, Savvas, who is 93, still spends every day with Thea, but Peter admitted the aging process is painful to witness.

“I’ve learned to look at things differently,” Peter shared. “Mum and Dad have reached 70 years of marriage, and although it’s difficult to see the decline in both of them, I’m more appreciative of the time we have left.”

Peter’s emotional update also included a sweet video of his young daughter, Belle, chatting to her Bapou (Greek for grandfather) over FaceTime, showcasing their strong bond despite the distance. In his post, Peter wrote: “No matter what happens in my life, moments like these for me are the most precious.”

Peter added that while his mum can’t speak, Belle still speaks to her Yiayia daily, and their connection brings him warmth. “It melts my heart every time,” he said.

The reality of his mum’s declining health has made Peter even more grateful for the time he shares with his parents and children, cherishing every moment they have together.
