Fearne Cotton has candidly opened up about the emotional strain of being a working mum while navigating financial pressures following her split from ex-husband Jesse Woods. The broadcaster, 44, discussed the ongoing challenges on her Happy Place podcast with Ruth Langsford, where she admitted to feeling guilt over spending time away from her two children, Rex, 12, and Honey, 9.

Fearne revealed that balancing work and motherhood has been tough, especially after the end of her ten-year marriage to Jesse, 49, in December 2024. “I’ve had to wrestle with the decision to take on jobs that I want to do, but at the same time, I need to ensure I’m financially secure on my own,” she shared. “I’ve talked to my kids about it, and they understand, but it doesn’t take away the stress.”
In a vulnerable moment, Fearne expressed her dedication to being a mother despite her busy schedule. “After my podcasts, I rush to pick up the kids and make up for lost time. It’s a constant juggling act,” she said. Ruth reassured Fearne, saying, “Your children understand and love you. They know you work hard for them.”
The conversation comes after the revelation of Jesse’s financial struggles post-divorce. The musician, who is the son of Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood, has faced serious money woes, with court documents revealing he is living off savings and struggling to find stable employment. Jesse, who appeared in court earlier this year for a speeding violation, disclosed that he had been living on just £1,000 a month since the separation.
“Jesse has been facing challenges, but he’s trying to get back on track,” a source close to the family said. Jesse’s tax return also showed a low annual income of around £14,000, raising further questions about his post-divorce financial situation. Fearne, on the other hand, is focused on her career while ensuring her children are cared for.
Since their split, Fearne has remained focused on her role as a mother, despite the emotional toll it has taken. “We’ve always put the kids first, and that will never change,” she said.
The couple’s divorce was announced on December 16, 2024, with Fearne stating that their children would always be their priority. “It is with a heavy heart that I let you all know that Jesse and I are ending our marriage,” she shared at the time.
