In his heartfelt post, Ben revealed a sweet anecdote about their love story: “So 22 years ago today @mrsannieshephard said ‘oh go on then’ and that was that!” He went on to express his gratitude for Annie, calling her “the best thing to ever happen to me” before joking about his other great love—West Ham legend Mark Noble.

The couple, who married in 2004 in Salcombe, Devon, met while studying at the University of Birmingham and have two sons, Sam, 21, and Jack, 19. Their love story has been full of shared experiences, and the anniversary celebration was a reminder of how far they’ve come together.

Despite Ben’s high-profile career, Annie has remained out of the public eye, focusing on their family and her work as an interior designer. In a previous interview, Ben spoke about how Annie has been his rock through all the ups and downs, saying, “Annie was with me way before I got into telly. She has been through everything with me, the highs and lows.”

Ben also praised Annie for her patience, describing her as “exceptionally patient” and acknowledging her crucial role in raising their children and creating a loving home. He reflected, “She’s been the most important factor in our lives as a family; this amazing influence who created the home for our boys to become who they are and certainly made me better at being a dad.”

As the couple prepares for their next phase of life as empty-nesters, they’re both looking forward to new experiences. Their eldest son, Sam, is currently studying math at university, while Jack is working as a teaching assistant to save up for travel. Ben admitted that their house is already quieter but expressed excitement about this new chapter, saying, “Both of us feel like this next stage is really exciting.”

Looking ahead, Ben and Annie are embracing the challenge of adapting to their evolving home life. They enjoy different activities, with Ben indulging in physical pursuits like golf and running, while Annie prefers art galleries and gardens. But they’re eager to find activities that both can enjoy together.

This anniversary post from Ben Shephard and Annie reflects the love, patience, and understanding that have shaped their long-lasting relationship. As they move into this exciting new chapter, there’s no doubt that their bond will continue to grow.
