Melanie Sykes Reveals Heart-Wrenching Update on Alopecia Battle: ‘I’m Two-Thirds Bald, But I’m Learning to Live with Loss’

In a brave and emotional confession, TV personality Melanie Sykes has shared the shocking news that she is now “two-thirds bald” following her ongoing battle with alopecia. The 55-year-old opened up about her condition, nearly a year after being diagnosed, offering a glimpse into the physical and emotional challenges she has faced.

In a candid Instagram post, Melanie shared a selfie that shows her rocking a bob haircut and sunglasses, revealing the extent of her hair loss. “Hey strumps. My crown is pretty much what’s left of my hair now, and how healthy it is. I do get cold, hence the beanie and various headwear, but I’m learning to live with ‘loss’ and counting my blessings instead,” she wrote, offering a glimpse of her vulnerability.

Melanie admits that it’s not always easy to maintain an attitude of gratitude, but insists it’s essential for her emotional well-being. “It’s not always easy to be grateful all of the time, but it is the key to happiness and takes daily, moment-to-moment practice. Practice love,” she added.Melanie Sykes on Loose Women

In an earlier video from December, Melanie revealed the extent of her condition, saying, “I’m two-thirds bald, really. Every time I say I’m bald, I laugh, I don’t know why… thank God I can laugh.” The star, who’s had an autoimmune condition and been in severe pain, shared that her fight with alopecia has been a painful journey.Melanie SykesMelanie was diagnosed with alopecia last year (Credit: Splash News)

Back in April of the previous year, Melanie first shared the news of her alopecia diagnosis, which she believes is linked to PTSD, shock, mistreatment, and malpractice. “This is a picture of me I took last week whilst in London investigating some health issues. I am experiencing alopecia and heart issues due to all that has happened over the last few months,” she wrote, reflecting on her personal struggles.Melanie Sykes on the radio Melanie opened up about her diagnosis (Credit: Virgin Radio UK / YouTube)

Despite the physical changes and emotional toll, Melanie remains determined to stay strong and find meaning in her journey. “I’m learning to live with it, and though it’s been tough, I’m focusing on the blessings in my life.”

Melanie’s openness about her battle with alopecia has resonated with many, offering strength to others who are going through similar struggles. She’s a true inspiration, showing that even in the face of difficult health battles, finding gratitude and love can help heal the soul.
