Emmerdale fans are in for a shock as Kev Townsend is making his highly-anticipated return to the village later this year. Actor Chris Coghill will reprise his role after months of absence, and it looks like more drama is about to unfold.

Kev quickly became a standout character when he first arrived, with his unpredictable behavior keeping viewers on the edge of their seats. Now, their wishes for his return have been granted.
Kev’s Chaotic Past in Emmerdale
When Kev first entered Emmerdale, he stirred up controversy by pretending to be dying to keep Robert by his side. After his release from prison, his manipulative behavior came to light, leaving Robert to ultimately choose Aaron over him. The pair tried to work together to get Kev out of their lives for good, but the drama didn’t stop there.
In a surprising twist, Kev discovered he was the father of Lewis Barton—though Lewis still has no idea. After warning Aaron about the dangers of John, Kev fled the village, leaving behind plenty of unfinished business.
The Return of Kev Townsend – Chaos to Follow?
Now, Emmerdale has confirmed that Kev will return later this year, and with a new business venture, it’s safe to say that trouble is on the horizon.
Producer Laura Shaw shared her excitement: “Both Chris and the character of Kev made a massive impact on the show last year, so Chris is definitely back by popular demand. With Kev’s son, Lewis, still in the village unaware of who his father is, there’s a lot of unfinished business and drama ahead.”
Chris Coghill, thrilled to be returning to the show, added, “I’m really pleased to be coming back to Emmerdale. I had a brilliant time last year. Kev is a complex character that I love playing. He has psychopathic tendencies but also an energy and vulnerability that makes him pretty unique. I’m properly looking forward to getting back into it.”
With unresolved tensions between Robert, Lewis, and the return of Kev, fans can expect plenty of chaos in the upcoming episodes. The dramatic twists are sure to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
