Alison Hammond has landed yet another TV show, despite previously turning down the opportunity to host Strictly Come Dancing, citing her busy schedule as the reason. The 51-year-old TV personality is set to join singers Sam Ryder and Paloma Faith for a new Channel 4 show titled Your Song, where contestants perform songs that have a deep personal meaning.

In Your Song, participants will have the chance to showcase the song that tells their story, all for a shot at performing at a special gig at the Hackney Empire in London. Alison, Sam, and Paloma will guide these extraordinary voices as they share their personal stories with the nation.

The show, which premieres on Sunday, April 12 at 9pm, promises an authentic experience, with Alison revealing, “It was important to me that it wasn’t exploitative. It’s filmed live, with no ‘could you do that bit again?’—what you see is the genuine timeline.”

Sam Ryder, who rose to fame in Eurovision, echoed Alison’s sentiments, saying the show treats everyone with respect and dignity, emphasizing that the stories shared are sacred and not for exploitation. Alison also made it clear that Your Song isn’t about finding the best voice but about the connection between the performer and their audience. “It’s about sharing your authentic self,” she said.

This show is just another addition to Alison’s already packed schedule, as she also hosts The Great British Bake Off and This Morning on Fridays with Dermot O’Leary. But despite her growing list of projects, Alison previously turned down the chance to host Strictly Come Dancing, calling it unrealistic to fit into her schedule.

In an interview with Radio Times, Alison admitted that while she would have loved the opportunity to host Strictly, she simply couldn’t make it work. “I’m so busy, babes,” she said, “I’m happy with everything I’ve got.”

As the search for new Strictly hosts continues, Alison’s decision to step back from such a coveted role has left fans wondering what’s next for the beloved presenter. While names like Zoe Ball, Rylan Clark, and Emma Willis are still being considered for the role, Alison remains focused on her current projects.
