Savannah Guthrie Opens Up About ‘Unthinkable’ Thoughts That Haunt Her Every Night After Mom’s Abduction”

Savannah Guthrie has revealed the heart-wrenching, “unthinkable” thoughts that plague her every night following the abduction of her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie. This is her first TV interview since the tragedy.

The Today show co-host, 54, shared her agony in a deeply emotional interview with Hoda Kotb, airing on Thursday and Friday. Savannah opened up about the sleepless nights, confessing, “I wake up every night, in the middle of the night, and in the darkness, I imagine her terror.”

Her mother, Nancy, was taken from her home in Tucson, Arizona, during the early hours of February 1, 2026. As of now, law enforcement has not named any potential suspects, despite the case remaining unsolved for over 50 days. In the heart-wrenching TV clip, Savannah pleads for someone to step forward and help bring her mother home: “Someone needs to do the right thing. We are in agony. We are in agony. It is unbearable.”

During the interview, Hoda Kotb described Savannah’s pain as “gut-wrenching” and remarked on her strength. “There is a desperation and also a steeliness about Savannah,” Hoda said. “She’s hoping that someone, whoever this person is, will see something and say something.”

Savannah’s voice trembled as she recounted the emotional toll the ordeal has taken, explaining how she still holds out hope despite the uncertainty. “It is unthinkable, but those thoughts demand to be thought, and I will not hide in my face, but she needs to come home now.”

Savannah’s family issued an emotional plea for the community’s help, urging residents of Southern Arizona to review their memories, security footage, and even personal records from January 11, January 31, and February 1—the dates investigators believe are critical to the case. The family believes that even the smallest detail could lead to a breakthrough.

“We cannot grieve; we can only ache and wonder,” Savannah said in the interview, speaking about her ongoing anguish. As the search intensifies, a $1 million private reward remains on the table for information leading to Nancy’s safe return.

Though Savannah has stepped back from her duties at The Today Show, she plans to return once things settle. “I crave a return to normalcy,” she said. Meanwhile, Hoda Kotb continues to fill in for her as the community rallies behind Savannah and her family in their quest for answers.
