The race to become the next Strictly Come Dancing host is reaching its dramatic climax as BBC prepares to hold a secret audition event this week. After the departure of Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly last year, the BBC has been on a hunt for fresh faces to bring new energy to the beloved show.

Nine famous stars have made it to the final shortlist and will now face off at a top-secret location in London. These contenders will go head-to-head in a large-scale dress rehearsal complete with live music and judges to test their chemistry and charisma. From Monday to Friday, these celebrities will be put through their paces, and the BBC has enforced strict non-disclosure agreements to keep everything under wraps.
An insider revealed: “It’s not just about reading the script. They’ll be watching how people work together, and humor is a huge factor. Everything’s up for grabs.”
Those who make it to the final stage will be closely monitored by BBC’s top brass, including executive producer Sarah James and head of entertainment Kalpna Patel-Knight. The BBC is keen to make a quick decision after seeing how the stars perform under pressure.
The shortlisted stars include Rylan Clark, Emma Willis, Tom Allen, Angela Scanlon, Alex Jones, Alison Hammond, Bradley Walsh, La Voix from RuPaul’s Drag Race, and Zoe Ball from Radio 2.
A source said, “They really want to bring the fun this year. It’s all about chemistry and who can instantly click and keep the energy high on live TV.”
The BBC is also open to new combinations, and one source teased, “If Rylan and Tom Allen click, they could be a hilarious duo. Or they could even introduce a third presenter to shake things up.”
The competition is fierce, and the BBC will be testing various combinations to see what works best for Strictly‘s return.
