In a heartwarming turn of events, Eddie Murphy, at 65, is basking in what he calls “raining blessings” after becoming a grandfather not once, but twice in a span of just two months!
The legendary comedian and actor, known for his roles in Beverly Hills Cop and Coming to America, shared the joyous news during an appearance at the American Film Institute (AFI) Achievement Award Ceremony in Los Angeles. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Eddie revealed that he became a grandfather for the first time earlier this year, when his first grandson was born. But the blessings didn’t stop there—just weeks later, in early April, his son Eric and wife Jasmin, daughter of Hollywood star Martin Lawrence, welcomed a beautiful baby girl, Ari Skye, marking Eddie’s second grandchild in just two months.
“I just had my first grandson two months ago,” Eddie shared, smiling with pride. “And I had my third granddaughter two weeks ago. So all this stuff is happening… I’m like, it’s raining blessings on me. Raining blessings.”

Eddie’s family continues to grow, with the actor now a proud father of ten children. His kids include Eric (36), Christian (35), Bria (31), Shayne (31), Zola (26), Bella (24), Myles (33) with his ex-wife Nicole Mitchell, and Angel (19) with Spice Girl Melanie Brown. He also shares two young children, Izzy (9) and Max (7), with his current wife, Paige Butcher.
Though Eddie didn’t disclose which of his children welcomed his first grandson, there have been whispers that it might be his daughter Bria, who appeared to show signs of pregnancy last November.
Reflecting on his parenting, Eddie offered a piece of wisdom: “You don’t give advice like that. Your kids don’t go by your advice. Your kids go by the example you set. They watch you.”
Over the weekend, Eddie posed with most of his children at the AFI ceremony where he was honored with a Life Achievement Award. The emotional moment was capped off with a standing ovation from the audience, which included stars like Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock, and Martin Lawrence. Eddie, visibly moved, said, “Seeing all of my family, all my kids, my beautiful wife, and seeing all the different people I worked with, I’m just really filled up.”
