Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today show host Savannah Guthrie, has been missing since February 1, and the latest revelations in her case are sending shockwaves. Former FBI profiler Jim Clemente has broken down the blood spatter evidence at her Tucson, Arizona home and claims that Nancy was violently threatened and controlled by her abductor using a gun to force her out of the house.
Appearing on NewsNation, Clemente shared his chilling analysis, revealing that the blood splatter patterns suggest Nancy fought back before being overwhelmed with force, possibly punched in the face or nose. “She fought him, either inside or just outside the door, and was likely hit with overwhelming force,” Clemente stated. “She began bleeding, went down, and coughed up blood, which is why we see this specific pattern.”
Clemente believes the assailant used a gun—likely kept at the waist or crotch area—to threaten and force Nancy to the front door. “I believe she was controlled by the gun,” Clemente explained. “The offender most likely used the gun to threaten her and get her out of the house.” He also suggested that the abductor may have physically lifted Nancy from the scene.
The profiler added that he believes only one person was involved in the kidnapping, based on the lack of multiple shoe print patterns found in the blood. “I’m adamant it was just one person,” he said, pointing to the lack of evidence for any second accomplice.
However, Clemente also stated that the offender made several significant mistakes during the crime, such as revealing a possible tattoo on his wrist to a doorbell camera. The profiler speculated that the abductor may have been closely following media coverage of Nancy’s disappearance.
Meanwhile, the FBI is continuing its investigation, and the Guthrie family has offered a $1 million reward for any information leading to Nancy’s recovery. Savannah Guthrie, after taking time off from the Today show, returned to the air on April 6.
As the case continues to unfold, the questions surrounding Nancy Guthrie’s abduction remain hauntingly unanswered.
