Judy Finnigan, 78, and her beloved husband Richard Madeley, 70, were spotted on a rare outing after a stylish lunch at Simpson’s in the Strand, London. The iconic TV couple, who are set to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary this November, looked happier than ever as they strolled arm-in-arm, giggling and enjoying each other’s company.

Judy exuded elegance in a pink blazer layered over a matching blouse and dark trousers, completing her look with a pale pink handbag and a statement gold necklace. Richard complemented her in a smart navy suit, paired with a crisp white shirt and a burnt orange tie. The couple are parents to Chloe, 38, and Jack, 40, as well as Judy’s twin sons Tom and Dan Henshaw from her first marriage.

The pair first met in the 1980s while working at ITV Granada. At the time, Judy was married to journalist David Henshaw and Richard was separating from his first wife Lynda. Recalling their first meeting in a 2024 Channel 5 documentary, Judy joked about being assigned as his “minder,” while Richard remembered the moment as a quirky introduction: “I suddenly felt two hands on the back of my neck and heard this voice saying, ‘I’m your mummy.’ I turned around, and it was this beautiful blonde.”
Their first kiss came later after a long day of filming promos in Blackpool, shared during a quiet drive back to Manchester in a black cab — a moment that sparked the love story that has now lasted over four decades.
When asked about the secret to their enduring marriage, daughter Chloe told Closer magazine in 2024: “They would honestly say the same thing — that the secret to them having such a long marriage is to not get divorced. There have been hard times, but they always stayed together. They set a pretty gold standard.”
Despite their long and successful union, Chloe revealed that she never felt pressure to emulate her parents’ marriage, even after her own separation in 2023, emphasizing the respect and inspiration their relationship continues to offer.
