Craig Melvin and his wife Lindsay Czarniak recently celebrated a major milestone: their son Delano turned 12 on March 10. Melvin, co-host of Today, shared a heartfelt birthday message for his eldest child, while Czarniak posted a touching Instagram tribute. 
“A friend of mine said ‘don’t blink,’ and she’s right. Here we are – at 12!” Czarniak wrote, reflecting on the joys and challenges of parenting. “We are grateful for every moment (and every hug) with this crew. Happy birthday to the incredible kid we adore who made us proud parents one sunny Sunday in March of 2014.” 
Delano’s birthday celebration included a hibachi dinner and cake at home. Fans flooded social media with congratulatory messages. One wrote, “Happy Birthday!!!! Love watching your kids grow up! Enjoy all the moments,” while others echoed the sentiment with heartwarming wishes. 
Earlier on Today, Melvin gave Delano a shout-out in front of fans at 30 Rockefeller Plaza: “I just want to take a quick moment for a special birthday wish. My son, Delano, is 12 years old today. Happy birthday, son. We love you.” Colleagues and viewers alike were touched by the father’s heartfelt message. 
The birthday also highlights how Melvin and Czarniak navigate raising their biracial children. In a February article on Today.com, Melvin shared: “We deliberately expose them to both of our families’ histories… from African-American traditions to Lindsay’s Polish heritage. Every January, the kids watch the full ‘I Have A Dream’ speech, which sparks meaningful conversations.”
