Richard Madeley has opened up about his long marriage to wife Judy Finnigan, reflecting on how their relationship has evolved since they stopped working together on television projects.
The Good Morning Britain presenter spoke candidly about the couple’s dynamic, explaining that life feels different now they are no longer appearing as a professional duo on screen.
Madeley described their marriage as “semi-detached”, suggesting that while their working lives have separated, their personal bond remains unchanged.
The couple, who first married in 1986, rose to fame as one of UK television’s most recognisable presenting partnerships, fronting This Morning and later their long-running Channel 4 show Richard & Judy.
Since Judy stepped back from broadcasting, Richard has continued his career on ITV’s Good Morning Britain, with the pair now following different professional paths.
Despite this, Madeley stressed that they have not grown apart personally and remain closely connected behind the scenes.
Judy previously explained in interviews that working together for so many years strengthened their relationship rather than weakening it, saying their bond remained “incredibly close” even when their routines changed.
Richard added that while it may look from the outside as though their professional separation created distance, in reality their marriage remains strong and unchanged at its core.
The couple, who share two children, Chloe and Jack, continue to be one of British television’s longest-standing and most enduring partnerships.
