Actor Danny Miller has unveiled the results of his personal “year of reinvention”, showing off a striking transformation after embarking on a fitness, health, and lifestyle overhaul following online abuse from trolls.
The Emmerdale star, 35, shared a before-and-after image with fans, reflecting on how far he has come in just one year, describing the journey as something he “never in a million years believed was achievable”.

Danny, who plays Aaron Dingle in the long-running ITV soap, had previously been subjected to cruel comments about his appearance after returning to the show in 2023. At the time, he openly responded to trolls who labelled him “fat” in online posts.

In a now-deleted social media message, he made it clear the comments did not affect him personally, writing that while viewers could comment on his character, personal insults about his appearance would not impact him.

He also joked at the time about eating fast food and drinking full-fat cola, showing his relaxed attitude toward body-shaming criticism.

Over the following years, Danny continued to address his appearance with humour, even posting a TikTok video where he joked he resembled a “fat Wolverine” while playfully highlighting his physical changes.

However, in 2025, the actor made a significant lifestyle decision, choosing to give up alcohol as part of a broader commitment to improving his health and wellbeing.
In April, he shared a reflective post alongside old photos from his nights out, revealing he had embraced sobriety and a more disciplined routine.
He wrote a short poem about his transformation, describing a shift from “late nights and one more round” to “early mornings” and a clearer mindset, adding that he was becoming a version of himself he could be proud of.
Danny later clarified that his journey was not about advocating for others but about personal improvement for the sake of his family and mental health.
“I don’t want to be a voice or an advocate,” he explained. “I just want to better myself in health and mind for my family.”
Alongside giving up alcohol, the actor also credited small but consistent lifestyle changes for his physical transformation, including healthier dietary choices such as switching to skimmed milk.
In a light-hearted comment, he admitted he did not fully understand how such small changes made a difference, but said he felt better and noticed visible results.
Earlier this year, Danny marked a major milestone by celebrating one year of sobriety, describing the achievement as emotional and life-changing.
Speaking in a video message, he said it had been a journey of self-reinvention motivated by his wife, children, and family, and admitted he once never believed he would be able to quit drinking.
“Today marks one year since I last had a drink,” he said. “One year of reinventing myself for my family, trying to be better for myself, my children, my wife.”
Reflecting on his transformation, Danny also shared that looking back at old photos helped him realise how much his mindset and lifestyle had changed.
He admitted that during his previous lifestyle, he often felt tired and overwhelmed, and struggled to prioritise his own wellbeing while focusing on family responsibilities.
“I was constantly putting myself at the bottom of the priority list,” he explained. “To be the best dad and husband I can be, I first needed to be the best Danny I could be.”
The actor said the most recent image is not about perfection, but about progress, improved health, and having more energy for the people who matter most.
He ended his message by acknowledging that his journey is still ongoing but said he is proud of how far he has come so far.
“It’s not about being perfect,” he wrote. “It’s about feeling healthier, happier, and more present for my family.”
